How much does it cost for my kids to play in Oswegoland PONY baseball?
| Registration fees for Oswegoland PONY baseball differ depending what division your child is registered for. Students, who are in the Pinto division, 7 and 8 year olds, pay a fee of $100.00 each. All other divisions, ages 9 through 17, pay a fee of $125.00 each. If your child plays on one of our traveling teams, there are extra fees due on top of the $125.00 registration fee. | How do I register for Oswegoland PONY baseball? |
All students can register one of two ways. One is to mail in a completed registration form along with the correct fee to OPB-Registration, P.O. Box 633, Oswego, IL 60543 before our post mark deadline date. Or, you can bring a completed registration form along with the correct fee to one of our walk-in registration dates sometime in January. Forms are available at walk-in registration. A photo copy of each participant's Birth Certificate must be included in all Mail-In Registrations and will not be maintained or returned. A copy of each participant's Birth Certificate must be submitted at Walk-In Registration for review and acknowledgement.
How can I get a registration form?
Forms are mailed out to our previous year's registrants and are distributed to district 308's elementary and junior high schools in late December or early January. If you are new to our program, forms are available at the Oswegoland Park District's Civic Center and Prairie Point. Additionally, you can print a form from our website on our "Registration" page.
Does my son/daughter have to try out?
All players registered by the deadline date are asked to attend an evaluation day. This is not a try out. All players registered by the deadline date are guaranteed participation in the upcoming season. Coaches will evaluate all registered players who attend and teams are constructed through a draft process by those coaches. We use this method to construct teams in the Mustang, Bronco, and Pony divisions. The Pinto division uses a random selection process similar to the park district to determine each team's roster. If your son/daughter is interested in a more competitive league, and he or she is between the ages of 10 and 14, they can try out for their age's travel team during the months of July and/or August. Please reference the Traveling page on the website for more information.
If my son/daughter can't attend evaluations, do they still get on a team?
All players who attend the evaluations are drafted first by the coaches. After all players who attended the evaluations are drafted, all "no shows" will be randomly appointed to a team by a blind draw to the next team in the draft order. |
How long is the baseball season?
Every season begins with practices starting approximately in the first week of April with games starting the first week of May . The season is usually completed before the fourth of July. Weather permitting, you can expect practices and games, on the average, to be twice a week. There is no set day for any team on which day your child will have practice or a game.
Does Oswegoland PONY Baseball offer a traveling baseball program?
Oswegoland PONY Baseball offers traveling baseball for students at the ages of 10 through 14 . Any player interested is encouraged to try out for their specified age's team. Tryouts are held in late July and/or August after the previous season is complete. All players interested must attend at least one of the tryout dates, but are encouraged to attend as many tryout days as possible. There are multiple tryout days. There is an additional registration cost for those who are selected to the team.
