Colt League

Oswegoland PONY baseball participates in the Colt division, which is for 15 and 16 year old players. In addition, the league that we play in allows 17 year old players, providing that they are NOT Varsity high-school players. (17-year-old players cannot play in the end of the year COLT tournament.)

We play in what is called the Fox River Valley COLT league which is made up of teams from the following communities: Sandwich, Geneva, St.Charles, North Aurora, Plano, Newark, Batavia, Hinckly .Big Rock, Burlington, etc.

The league has two divisions . American, for players who are starting freshmen on the high school team and sophomore high school players.

The National division is for freshman .B. players and recreational players.

Oswegoland PONY Baseball is planning on having 5 COLT teams, An Oswego East .freshman team, an OHS freshman team, an East sophomore team, an OHS Sophomore team, and a recreational team.

The desire of Oswegoland PONY baseball is to keep the high school teams together for the summer.

The Oswegoland PONY COLT teams will play each other, within their divisions, and play team from the other communities listed above. Similarly, some of the other communities have more than one COLT team.

There are no tryouts or evaluations for PONY COLT teams. Players are assigned to a team by the above criteria: (School- OHS-OEHS, freshman high school player, sophomore high school player, recreational player. .With some variation to keep numbers similar on each team.

The league start the first full week of June and goes through the end of July. This is after the end of the freshman and sophomore high school season.

In addition to the league schedule, the individual coaches are allowed to fill in their schedules with additional games. We will also enter two COLT teams into the PONY-COLT national tournament. (Last year we had a sectional championship and did well in the Regional.)
